Regulation

Regulation Regulation (regulate) is “a rule or directive made and maintained by an authority.” All forms of media including films, music videos and video games must be regulated in order to protect the public from what they see, hear or interpret from the media. With the media today being so easily accessible by anyone it is important that it is regulated. Especially to protect vulnerable consumers such as children from what they are exposed to. This is because there is potentially damaging media which could affect their health both physically and mentally and cause unrealistic and incorrect views of the world. For example, through the development of technology, video games are becoming much more visually realistic and violent. Moreover with this type of media, the user is more active as they are playing the game. Therefore there must be age restrictions and regulations to protect children as it could affect their behaviours and attitudes in the real world. Regulation also takes

Digital Media Technology

Digital media technology refers to any software which contributes to programming, editing, marketing and producing media products. Digital media technology allows the products we create to be much creative especially when we are able to combine and use 2 or more different technologies, it enables our work to be more creative and unique. However, in order for our media products to be creative we must understand how to use these softwares to their full extent. When beginning AS media my knowledge and use of many digital softwares was very limited. I only knew how to use some such as editing effects on apps like Instagram. Therefore when it came to using softwares such as adobe indesign for my As preliminary task, the college magazine I produced was very basic and boring as my creativity was limited due to the fact that I did not understand how to use the software. Therefore by experimenting with the software, I was able to be more creative when creating my music magazine as I could use

Conventions of Real Media Texts Essay

"Explain how significant were the Conventions of Real Media Texts in your development of creativity across your 2 years of production work." Conventions of real media texts act as a structure and a set of rules which have a purpose. It could be argued that by having these conventions it can limit our creativity as we follow these rules in order for our media product to be recognisable to the targeted audience. Therefore if we change these conventions too much it can confuse the audience and then they won’t buy the product which is the main purpose. However the more we understand conventions the more we can adapt and change them in order to make them either more suitable to the specific media product or more visually appealing. However, conventions have a meaning and it is therefore important that this meaning is clear and not lost, this is why it is important that we understand conventions. In AS the media product which I created was a music magazine. Therefore I had to res

Research and Planning Essay

Over the two years both my understanding and use of research and planning skills has greatly improved across all areas when creating my media products. I have become aware of the purpose of research and that is is important as it has an effect on the creativity of my work. The more in depth research I do, the more ideas I gain which I can include and adapt into my work. It has further helped me to realise the importance of following conventions in order to give the target audience what they enjoy to make it recognisable and appealing to them. However I also learnt that some conventions can be challenged and adapted to become new and exciting to the targeted audience.  When creating my AS music magazine I carried out a basic preliminary task and used templates for my planning. Therefore this only required basic skills and understanding in research and planning as I didn’t really carry out any research. When creating my magazine I researched other magazines of that specific genre and si

Media Language

Horror films use established signs and codes in their conventions to signify deeper meaning. In my summer trailer symbolic codes such as mise-en-scene and location were used in order to portray the characters and set the tone. The characters clothing was just casual wear to show that they were average teenagers and the field denoted connotes a feeling of emptiness and no escape. However I feel as though we could have used many more symbolic codes in greater depth in order to convey meanings more. For example we didn’t use any makeup for effects and our location didn’t feature enough in order to set the tone as it wasn’t something we focused on. However these are key elements used that people become familiar with and therefore can identify a horror film with. For this reason, when creating our horror trailer I will ensure that aspects of mise-en-scene our considered deeply and connote meanings as well as ensuring that our film locations set a tone as it is important for viewers to be ab
